Description:
Medium sized, very similar to Brown Accentor, save for black on the throat. Has broad white to orange-buff supercilium and submoustachial stripe, black chin and upper throat, blackish crown sides and ear-coverts, dark brown streaking on mantle, and orange-buff breast and flanks.
Distribution:
Common passage migrant and winter visitor to lower valleys from Ghizer to Shigar and Skardu in the east. Prefers sandy semi-desert near cultivation, valleys with dense vegetation or bushes, scrub jungle and cultivations, ranging from 1000m to 3000m.
Behavior:
Forages on ground in dense shrubs, woods, grassy clearings, and banks of rivers and streams. In winter, forages in scrubby forest, bushes, and patches of weeds and reeds, either solitarily or in small parties. Primarily eats insects and other small arthropods, and worms and snails; also seeds, mainly in winter.
